Health systems are increasingly more expensive. There is a pressing need to reduce health costs. Missed appointments are a major obstacle in delivering cost effective healthcare.
Non attendance at screening and referral appointments is a particular problem with 30-49% of those invited not attending. Costs may vary widely, however $2.6k is average that each unused MRI scan time slot costs a diagnostic centre in the US. Increasing the number of patients that attend screening and diagnostic appointments will facilitate early detection of cancer, improve patient survival, increase hospital efficiencies and reduce late stage disease burden on healthcare systems.
25% of healthcare spending stems from administrative activities such as billing and scheduling. Automating the scheduling and payment process will reduce costs and enable staff to prioritize underserved patients.
With one in two people now getting cancer, there is a critical need for a solution to improve appointment attendance and enable early detection.

SPRYT is setting out to solve this problem with AI technology, enabling clinics and hospitals to:
Predict which patients are least likely to attend an appointment using AI based on a patient’s responses and language, as well as external factors such as the weather.
Leverage behavioural science to provide reassurance and answer patient’s questions (non diagnostic) relating to their appointment or general questions (directions etc). SPRYT gives the medical reception team control over the information provided to patients avoiding the risk of unsafe or inappropriate answers.
Understand and respond to patients’ questions with specific language, increasing motivation to attend the appointment while improving equitable access.
